Do You Set A Good Example For Your Children?

One of my pet peeves is parents that are so concerned about their children's weight BUT are heavy themselves and are doing nothing to set an example for them. Have you ever watched some of these shows like Fat Camp and Honey, You are Killing Your Kids? More than not, the parents are heavy or obese (per doctor standards) themselves. Parents need to start setting examples for their children. How can you expect your children to eat right if you don't eat right yourself! What about the kids that go away to some of these fat camps but come home to a house filled with all the foods that made them heavy to begin with.

Parents, you need to step up to the plate & start eating healthy. You need to add fun "moving/play activities" so that your children understand that fitness can be fun. Also, if you are working out, that is a great example too! Take them walking, jogging, bicycle riding, swimming or whatever it is with you!

Obesity is a huge problem in this society & child obesity is more present than ever! Not only is your health & your child's health at stake, but also the mental stigma that can happen to children being teased by other children. We all know that we should love ourselves for who we are but unfortunately children AND adults can be very mean these days & the teasing of heavy children can take a life long toll on them. For those that have gone thru this, you know this is true. I was subjected to teasing for being heavy & it did take a huge toll on me for years & years. I still can fall into the trap even at 50.

Again, health is of utmost importance but we also want to give children all the tools possible to be happy & healthy for life. Start by setting the example yourself!!! Children learn from watching the parents too.
